Native to the forests of South America, the green-winged macaw is a vibrantly colorful parrot which is the largest member of the Ara genus. Like most parrots, they are exceptionally social and mate for life – which can be up to 80 years!

  • History: Despite being classified as an animal of least concern on the conservation status spectrum, there is apprehension that the global population of the green-winged macaw, as well as many other macaw species, is declining due to habitat loss and illegal capture. Thankfully, there are many laws, as well as sanctuaries and preserves, established to help protect the many different types of macaws. Be sure to take home a few of these figurines to start a flock of your own, but be warned – macaws can be exceptionally loud!
