Description
Michoacan Male Warrior Clay Figure
c. 400 - 100 BCE
Previously part of the Dr Harner collection, Arkansas
A beautiful and very early Michoacan Figure from ancient Mexico. This decorated figure wears large ear spools, a large necklace with two pendants, arm bands/guards, and an interesting hat. Some original red/orange pigment remains. Deposits attest to its age, although it's a clearly ancient example regardless. Circa 400-100BC. Small loss to one foot, otherwise solid and intact.
Ex Dr Harner, who had one of the best Precolumbian collections in the country, much of which was obtained in the 1950's and 1960's.
A great ancient example with lots of character!
Measures 65mm tall.
