About the Echidna
Family Tachyglossidae. Found in Australia, it's the countries odd looking animal, with its spiny body, long snout and waddling movements. Diet consists of ants and termites. The echidna reaches the length of 35 - 50 cm. Gestation is 14 days to egg-laying. Egg hatches after 10 days. Echidna rolls up in a prickly ball when the soil is too hard to burrow to escape.
